4/11/2010, Lighting restrictions for ALL homeowners and property owners.

ALL of Crownridge lies within the Military Lighting Overlay District (MLOD).  The overriding motivation for the creation of this overlay district is to protect the critical nighttime training missions occurring at Camp Bullis by ensuring that all new lighting be configured so as to not create additional light pollution in the area surrounding Camp Bullis.  All new lighting, including all of Crownridge, must comply with the standards as outlined in the ordinance.

Examples of some (but not all) of the requirements are as follows:
-Downward Directional Lighting for new developments
-No direct light onto Camp Bullis, including screening for higher topographic elevations within 1 mile
-50% parking lot lights turned off one-hour after business closes
-Downward lighting for exterior on-premise sign illumination
-Internally lighted sign intensity limitations
-Prohibition against laser or search lights
-Permit procedures for temporary lighting exemptions
-If a fixture is removed or destroyed, or if substantial work is conducted on a fixture, it would be required to conform to the new regulations
